So 2012 arrived. Amid the signs
of the world coming down this year, the new coke commercial in India gave a
nice message of hope prevailing and so I guess the World decided to move on
with life, long or short doesn’t matter.
But this is not about 2012 or the bigger questions about life in
general, this is about the latest adventure of Feluda.

Royal Bengal Rahasya - the latest offering by Sandi Ray and
probably the best by him till date is a must watch for people who grew up
reading mystery novels and detective stories including Feluda.
The beginning credits in classic
Satyajit Ray style made sure the experience would a great one. The initial
shots of Feluda and team getting into the jungle set the tempo of the movie. The
story, the background score and the characters are just mind bogglingly
amazing, something which had been missing in Bengali movies for long. I do not
remember when was the last time such engrossing score was made in perfect
harmony with the suspense of the movie.
The best part of the movie was
that the director did not stretch the story to fit into the commercial time run
of Bengali movies… instead kept it short and accurate. Paran Bandyopadhyay does an awesome job in
his character and his exceptional expressions make his performance noteworthy.
Late Bibhu Bhattacharya and his Jatayu act is going to remain as one of his
best works and has given the movie the necessary dose of fear and anxiety.
All in all, a must watch Feluda
movie, alas Sabyasachi Chakrabarty may not play the character of Feluda anymore
considering his age and all, but I did not for once feel in this movie that he
was not fit enough to be Feluda.. continue sir!
